#9 Growing Spiritually in Christ

My sharing for today is all about "spiritual growth."

As Believers/ Christians, how can we have spiritual growth and then spiritual maturity?

I want to give emphasis on this because I have been "stagnant" for quite sometime and I never knew that it is easy to grow in Christ, there are only two (2) disciplines:

(1) Immerse ourselves in the "Word of God"; and

(2) Pray

Simple and yet profound.......

Psalm 1:2

but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, 

and who meditates on his law day and night.

Joshua 1:8

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

John 17:17

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

Psalm 119:18

Open my eyes that I may see 

wonderful things in your law.

Mark 13:31

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

To immerse ourselves in the "Word of God".....this has been my former deficiency. I have not truly embraced the true value of reading the Bible before, and it is only at present that I am able to discern how significant it is to be part of my daily life. Thank you to our Loving Lord's patience and prompting, He let me realize that I need to make it one of my primary commitments....Yes, our Loving Lord is telling us commit ourselves to Him and to do so, to know His thoughts, His purpose for our lives, His blessings & gifts to us, and His revelations, we need to be engross fully on His words....contemplating and meditating on it day and night, not occassionally but habitually, not selective reading but reflective.....pondering everything about it and truly, He will reveal Himself like a beautiful flower unraveling itself to us and we will be in awe. When we start a daily Bible-reading habit, it will be part of us, just like eating and drinking. 

1 John 5:14-15

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Ephesians 6:18

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

James 4:3

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

The communication process is always two-way. And it is just the same with our relationship with our Loving Lord. He talk to us through His Words- The Bible, we talk back to Him through prayers.

Praying, how important it is?......It is how we outpour ourselves to our Almighty Father, it is how we requests for all the things we need-- blessings, protection, healing, financial prosperity.....It is also how we ask forgiveness and be forgiven by Him.....but most of all, it is how we honor Him, we give back glory to Him and praise Him for what He is and for everything He gave us. Through prayers, our overflowing gratefulness is shared to Him through our heartfelt words. 

Pray! It is uplifting.

So it is not really hard to grow spiritually in Christ, we just need to remember: to read The Bible and pray.........and then our Loving Lord will help us grow in maturity and He will let us be fruitful.

#8 Rejoice in the LORD!

Satan's Deceptions (source: Inspiration Ministries)

Revelation 12:9

The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.


The devil is a deceiver. The Bible teaches that his goal is to “deceive.”

In this sharing, God tells us that has given us the right course of action, but Satan wants us to wander away from it. God has given us the right goals and the path that will lead to fulfillment and blessing, but Satan wants to distract and mislead us. He will encourage us to go in directions that may seem beneficial, but ultimately will lead us off course.

Satan does not want us to be stable or committed to the truth. He encourages us to stray, to roam, to rove about. He works diligently to make these alternative paths attractive. He seeks to deceive us about the purpose of our lives and God’s promises. He does everything possible to keep us from thinking that God’s Word is true.

He does not just seek to deceive us, but “the whole world.” He seeks to deceive Christians and non—Christians, rich and poor, men and women, young and old, politicians and celebrities, educators and athletes. He is not interested in being fair, but will do anything to deceive.


Today, remember that Satan seeks to deceive you. He will try to deceive your mind and emotions. He wants to keep you from believing God’s Word. He wants you to give up, to be angry and afraid, to worry.

But you have a choice! Don’t be ignorant of the devil’s schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11).

2 Corinthians 2:11

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Stand on God’s Word. Renew your faith in Him. Trust Him!

Today's Inspirational Prayer:

Father, help me to be on guard against the deception of the devil. Give me discernment. Thank You for the power and authority You have given me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ponder Your Path (source: Our Daily Bread)

Proverbs 4:19

But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; 

they do not know what makes them stumble.

Proverbs 4:4

Then he taught me, and he said to me, 

“Take hold of my words with all your heart;
keep my commands, and you will live.

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 4:26

Give careful thought to the paths for your feet

and be steadfast in all your ways.

Proverbs 4 urges us to consider carefully our own road in life. The passage contrasts the free, unhindered path of the just with the dark, confused way of the wicked (v.19). “Let your heart retain my words; keep my commands, and live” (v.4). “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (v.23). “Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established” (v.26). Each verse encourages us to evaluate where we are in life.

No one wants to go through life on a selfish, heartless road. But it can happen unless we consider where we are going in life and ask the Lord for His direction. May He give us grace today to embrace His Word and follow Him with all our hearts.



Is Jesus Exclusive? (source: Strength for the Journey)

John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I once saw Billy Graham’s daughter Anne Graham Lotz on a popular news talk program. The interviewer asked, “Are you one of those who believe that Jesus is exclusively the only way to heaven?” He added, “You know how mad that makes people these days!” Without blinking she replied, “Jesus is not exclusive. He died so that anyone could come to Him for salvation.”

What a great response! Christianity is not an exclusive club limited to an elite few who fit the perfect profile. Everyone is welcome regardless of color, class, or clout.

In spite of this wonderful reality, Christ’s claim in to be the only way to God continues to offend. Yet Jesus is the only way—the only option that works. All of us are guilty before God. We are sinners and cannot help ourselves. Our sin had to be dealt with. Jesus, as God in the flesh, died to pay the penalty for our sins and then rose from the dead. No other religious leader offers what Jesus provides in His victory over sin and death.

The gospel of Christ is offensive to some, but it is the wonderful truth that God loves us enough to come and take care of our biggest problem—sin. And as long as sin is the problem, the world needs Jesus!

May our Loving Lord keep us all in His light everyday, truly we can rejoice, we have been freed by Him...we are free indeed!

#7 Growing in God's Wisdom

2 Timothy 3:1-4
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—

Revelation 3:15-16
(These are the words of the Amen): I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Before, when I am not yet truly in God's light, I consider myself a half-hearted Believer. Yes, I pray on a regular basis but sometimes I do forget too; yes, I attend church but not very regular; yes, I ask our God for forgiveness but not all the time; yes, I give to the church, to my family, to others especially those in need, but occasionally; yes, I read the Bible, but not on a regular basis; yes, I thank God everytime but I always want more in my life...


The one in highlights in 2 Timothy 3:1-4 is in a way a description of my life then:
- I love myself more than others, that is including my hubby and my little boy;
- I want more...most probably because we were not well-off then and I had really a taste of "life is hard", I want my life to be financially stable...to have my own "home", my own car, lots of savings in the bank, to be able to explore the world and the list goes on... and everything entails money; 
- I'm in a way too proud of myself, most probably because of my achievements, with such, I am always having a hard time stooping down to others, though I am not boastful, I have high regard of myself; 
- when I am in a fit of rage, I am like a volcano, and when I am in an outburst, I hurt others with my words and sometimes actions;
- it is so hard for me to forgive easily, when I am hurt, as if I was stabbed with a knife deep within me and I can't take it off;
- other than my forgiving issue, I don't forget easily, especially when you've done me wrong; and
- I can also prejudge a person instantly, as if I am character-reader.


But our God, our Loving and Merciful Father, my Saviour and my Everything, did not look upon all the negative in me but rather, He helped me see it for myself, ...through His constant love, reminders, Words and loving messages from the Bible and my devotionals, the people around me especially my husband, and the church I attend to, I am now walking humbly in His way, in His truth and in His light...


I am seeing His perspective now,
- that rather than loving myself more, He is teaching me to embrace selflessness, that reaching out for others is far better than satisfying yourself;
- that the pursuit of worldly pleasures- car, home, money, exploring the world, financial stability, (all material in nature) will never give me happiness nor contentment, but rather it will keep me away from Him and I won't be able to give Him the first priority which everyone of us should be doing;
- that pride is the result of success, it will never make me humble;
- that self-control and gentleness are fruits of the Spirit, and to nurture and grow it, it takes lots of patience and understanding of others;
- that the measure of a true character is humility, and humbleness entails forgiving and forgetting the hurts and pains that others may have inflicted on you; and
- that no one has the right to judge or prejudge others, because the measure you use will also be used against you comes judgement time.



I am a work in progress, but I can humbly attest, my whole being is undergoing a sanctification process and I am so deeply grateful to the Lord God of my life.


To be transparent to others is not an easy thing to do, but I know in my heart that when you let yourself mirror your life to others, you will see that you are not alone, that each and everyone of us has "baggages" that we need to unload to the One True God who will give us rest and true freedom.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

#6 JESUS in the Spotlight

Good day everyone, may our Almighty Father's prosperous blessings abound in us all (".)


Today's sharing is all about giving the limelight to our Loving Lord-- Jesus.


"Delight in the LORD... (Psalm 37:4)


"Delight"- 
I looked it up and found the best meanings of it:
-- to take great pleasure or joy;
-- a joy to behold;
-- a high-wrought state of pleasurable feeling;
-- extreme satisfaction;

When our Loving Lord starts the sanctification process in our hearts, in our minds & thoughts, and in our whole being, through the Holy Spirit, He lets us be drawn to Him more and more, and I believe, that it is the transformation process that each of us, Christian/ Believer, goes through when our Father starts to keep us in His light.

It is no doubt that our Father in Heaven loves us immeasurably; He is with us every moment of our lives, shielding us from all harm and danger; and He always reiterate that His commands are not really burdensome, the sum of which is- "Love GOD with all of you and love your neighbor as yourself." Through this very simple but profound command, He has given us true freedom from Satan's deceitful and destructive ways. 

1 John 5:3

In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome,

Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus replied: "Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments."

Think about it:

(1) Who provides for our daily sustenance?

Matthew 6:25-27 

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

(2) Who gives us the mental faculties to figure things out?

Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, 

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

(3) Who makes opportunities for our lives? education? work? promotion?

Jeremiah 32:40

I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.

(4) Who gives us the talents to do things well?


Matthew 25:15

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his several ability, 

(5) Who provides us the spiritual gifts to participate successfully in His work?

1 Corinthians 12:1-11

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.(excerpt)

And the list goes on....

The fact is "we are nothing" without Him.

Isn't it just fitting that we give the spotlight to our Lord JESUS, He is the only one deserving of all honor and glory......and true to His promise, He will make our life abundant in the most inexplicable way and circumstance.

#5 God is asking...would you be my child?

An amazing Love Letter from our Heavenly Father was narrated in a Christian site and it speaks right to the very heart of all of us, as I have been in awe and blessed, may this sharing have the same impact on all of you.

#4 My Continuing Walk with God

This is the sequel to the post I've shared- "God's Free Gift of Salvation."


I have mentioned that it took me 21 years before I was baptized by immersion and it was the most important decision I've made in my life. Why?


True to God's Words, I believe in my heart that the Holy Spirit started to manifest its work in my life when I truly received Him through Christian baptism.


Acts 2:38
...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.


Our God of Salvation, Saviour and Redeemer is genuinely the God of love because He is the ultimate expression of love and He is truly patient with all of us.


1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.


2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.


You may find it OA (overacting) but I did cry my heart out when I've shared with my hubby that I am so grateful to our Loving Lord that He has been patient with me through the 39 years of my life, because looking at it, it is only now that I am seeing His light in its sincerest form.


To share a bit of my life, I am a Roman Catholic by birth, both my parents are Catholics, so it follows. My mom is the first spiritual companion I've had and I owe it to her that as early as a child, she taught me to lift up everything to our Loving Father in Heaven and I followed her advice, I always let God be the God of my life, I lifted up to Him all requests and I never forget to be thankful to Him everytime.


As I reminisced it, I am blessed throughout my life, though not totally in financial aspect, but on everything else. I've been surrounded by people who loves me-- good parents, siblings, friends, co-workers...even acquaintances and now, an almost perfect family-- a very loving husband and a man of God, and my son, the "angel" whom God gave us as a foretaste of heaven. His name is Raphael Joram, Raphael, named after one of the angels of God, and Joram, meaning "God is exalted". I really consider my life as a living testament of God's unfailing love and continuing faithfulness to His children.


However, there is a "but,"....my life centers all around me,....myself....and I.


I could assure everyone that I am not in the dark, but I am not in God's full light either that "time of my life." I experienced an "inner void" in me, I felt I am not complete, I am not contented with my life though our Loving Lord has overly blessed me, and with such, my inner depression manifested outside of my character. That time, as if I am in a battle. 


But I never gave up seeking our God, and He did not let go of me either, but instead, He helped me get through it, carrying me if needed.


Hebrews 13:5
... (God said) never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.


Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:
"I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.



Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you," declared the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is with you,

The Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

in His love He will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing."

Jeremiah 32:40

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

I have fully surrendered my life to Him. I am outpouring all of me to Him in prayers, I regularly ask forgiveness for my sins when I pray, I attend church, I am deepening my relationship with Him through reading and contemplating on His Words.... read my Bible, read devotionals like Our Daily Bread, My Utmost for His Highest, Our Daily Journey, Strength for the Journey, Cup of Comfort, Inspiration Ministries sharings and the like, and make it a point that I do it in a daily basis.


And the miracle of my life happened.... I don't have the void anymore, I am complete, I am contented, I have gladness in my heart, and I have inner peace....now I can truly affirm, I see my life in His light (".)


John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."


I am a sinner saved by God's grace, and now, I humbly want my life to be of use to Him by sharing Him and His Words, to be able to give back glory to Him everyday He lets me live and patiently waits for Him with enthusiasm, vigor and optimism because in my heart, the greatest reward of being a child of God is to see Him face to face.

#3 God's Free Gift of Salvation

Another beautiful day to share God's blessings and Words.....

If we have embraced the truth that God created us and that we are alive because of Him, how can we establish a personal relationship to the One True God that we have?

Today's sharing is all about "salvation"....

I have received my salvation in the year 1989, back when I was still in 1st year college, and at that time, that very moment when I received Jesus wholeheartedly, I have kept the faith that I am saved and I am going to heaven when I die.

However, it took me 21 years before I come to acknowledge and accept to be baptized in Jesus' name last October 2010, the 17th to be exact, at First Christian Church, and I could assure everyone who is reading this blog of mine, that it is the best decision of my life that I've made.

Truly, God is with us, all the time, though most of the time we are not acknowledging Him.

Matthew 1:23 

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

He is truly knocking on each and everyone of us, knocking on our hearts, gently but with persuasion, we just need to open up to Him and when we do, we will experience pure, unadulterated and deep relationship with Him wherein words will never be able to express how it feels, you will just shed tears everytime, not because you are so sorrowful but because He is letting you feel love, joy and peace in extreme proportion.

Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Revelation 3:20

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Proverbs 8:17

I love those who love me, 

   and those who seek me find me.

Deuteronomy 4:29

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Matthew 7:7

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

May our Loving Lord touch each and everyone's hearts so that we will all be led to His light and may those who have not accepted His free gift of salvation be stirred today to receive Him wholeheartedly as the Saviour, Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

May this simple prayer be of guide:

"Father God, I worship You and believe You with all of me. I know in my heart that I am a sinner and not deserving of Your love nor Your gift of salvation and yet You still love me unconditionally and You want me to be Your child. Today, this very moment, I wholeheartedly confess that I am a sinner and it is only through Jesus, your son, that I can be saved.
